It has indeed been a festive season with the biggest festivals coming arms in arms with the other. After Ganpati, the celebrations of Eid are underway in the city. 30 days of fasting period have finally given way to the rewards of patience as Id makes its way for all to enjoy. Let’s take a look at how Eid was celebrated in different nodes with utmost communal harmony.

It is true that the Id moon can be seen only once in a year and in the city it has come with blessings and contentment. The end of the holy month of Ramadan is marked by Eid ul Fitr. The following of Ramadan accentuates the fact that Id is celebrated for a reason. The sighting of the new moon opens doors of joys for all and the merriment can be felt in the satellite city as well. Every node of the city had celebrations filled in the atmosphere and people were high on the spirits of forgiving and giving. Id symbolizes a unity, which brings together family and friends who celebrate each other’s company and happiness. Id-ul-Fitr means the 'festival of breaking the fast'. The fast of Ramadan is broken with special prayers and festivities. The 'Eid prayer is very important for all Muslims. It has the merits of the daily prayers, the effect of the weekly convention (Jumu'ah) and the characteristics of annual reunions between Muslims. Each 'Eid is a wholesome celebration of a remarkable achievement of the individual Muslim in the service of Allah. A few believers shared the significance and more about the celebrations on Eid.

MP Dr. Sanjeev Naik, MLC Manda Mhatre and Commissioner of Police Gulabrao Pol and DCPs were present at the Vashi mosque to greet Muslims after Eid Namaaz in the morning. MP Dr. Sanjeev Naik also joined Eid celebrations after Eid Namaaz at Ghansoli Durgah. DCP Ashok Dudhe, ACP Purshottam Karad and other Navi Mumbai Police officials were present to greet Muslims at APMC Market.

Another stop that adorned the divinity of Eid celebrations was Shahbaaz village at Belapur. We also captured Muslims offering Eid prayers at Nerul Jama Masjid and Palm Beach’s Moraj residency. NMMC Headquarters could be the country’s new iconic marvel

The satellite city would be soon getting an iconic structure in the form of the NMMC Headquarters under construction at CBD Belapur.
It’s been fourteen long years that the first plans of the NMMC HQ was floated by NMMC on the same plot in Koperkhairane where one can see the Reliance Beverly Park. After the bhumipujan in 1995, NMMC gave the reason of the dumping ground being close to the plot and rejected the plot. Finally it was under the headship of first Mayor Dr. Sanjeev Naik, that the NMMC HQ plot was zeroed at the Belapur site but jinx plagued the project due to technical hitches and environment clearances. However, all problems were taken up head on by NMMC until finally the bid to construct the HQ was re-tendered and awarded to Ashwini Infra-development Engineer and Contractors Pvt. Ltd. The latter bid the lowest for constructing the project that is Rs. 89 Crore 99 Lacs 47 Thousand 670. With the construction on the site already in full swing, we met the architects of this iconic structure of the city, Hiten Sethi and Associates. The CEO of the company, that corporation buildings are more of a pride for a city. This particular structure took four attempts but it is finally underway.
The construction is in full swing with the raft of the basements fitted that in another 18 months the structure would be complete. Someone has very rightly said that patience is always rewarded, For over a decade, the corporators and officials of NMMC were waiting to have their own headquarters and as the work begins in full force at the site, looks like the wait is soon going to be over that too in style. For the project promises to not just be an iconic structure and a marvel of a landmark, but the NMMC Headquarters promise to be a civic wonder like no municipal corporation in the country.
